These are our current classes. We hope you come! Whatever class you take, you should have a wonderful time, meet other interesting knitters and have confidence and skills to hone after the sessions!

Classes are listed by beginning date.

Space is limited to six students at each session so please let me know as soon as possible if you plan to attend.

Description: Perhaps you've seen someone using the "Magic Loop" technique and you thought it would be fun to try - here is your chance. Marion has been knitting socks using the magic loop and won't make them any other way now! Come learn the "magic". Knit Isager's Maple Leaves from Japanese Inspired Knits (Class Full)

Cost: $15 per class ($90 total)

Description: This class uses Isager's design to explore knitting a sweater body in multicolor vertical stripes. For those who prefer to knit a solid color sweater, there is still plenty of challenge in the openwork patterning and the shaping. We will use the first class to discuss the pattern, the shaping, the drape, and to explore colorways. After our discussion, we will move into the shop to select our yarns. Homework for the 2nd class will be to prepare a swatch which will provide guidance for the rest of your knitting. There is a break between the 4th & 5th classes to provide some extra time for knitting

Description: In this class you will learn colorwork, "invisible" thumb, border techniques, chart interpretation, and make the most beautiful mittens in the world. Anna Zilboorgs Magnificent Mittens and Socks" is included in the cost of the class; yarn purchase is additional. We will use about 100 gms each of worsted weight wool in two colors, size 4 or 5 dpns, stitch markers, point protectors, and about 172 3mm silver beads (optional). This is not a class for beginners.

Description: Beginning knitting will introduce you to yarn, gauge, casting on, two basic stiches: knit and purl, and binding off. The introductory knitting project will be a scarf - with knit and purl you will be able to create a 'sampler' scarf with several stiches to add to your tool box. This will also be a good class for those who want to refresh their skills.

Description: Learn the skills you need to start your first sweater - from pattern and yarn selection to gauge, sweater sizing and pattern reading. Please bring a sweater that fits you well to the first class for sizing information. It is expected that materials for this class will be purchased at the shop.

Foliage Lace Knitted Hat (5 spaces left)

Instructor: Katherine Applegate

Cost: $15 per class ($30 total)

Description: This two part class will work a top-down lace hat pattern from Knitty.com (?Foliage? by Emilee Mooney-free on the website, see picture below). This fun project covers the basics of hat making, an easy top-down hat technique, working in the round, and working a leaf lace motif (written out or from the chart). Instructions in the pattern are provided for both chunky weight and worsted weight yarn, so pick your favorite! Materials needed and available for purchase at the shop are: a. For chunky weight hat: one skein (100 yards) of smooth chunky weight yarn, size US 10.5 circular knitting needles 16? long, size US 9 circular knitting needles 16? long, a set of size US 10.5 double pointed knitting needles, a stitch marker, and a tapestry needle. b. For worsted weight hat: one skein (200 yards) of smooth worsted weight yarn, size US 7 circular knitting needles 16? long, size US 5 circular knitting needles 16? long, a set of size US 7 double pointed knitting needles, a stitch marker, and a tapestry needle. Class assumes knowledge of cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, and bind off. Lace stitches will be reviewed in the class.

Description: Learn to finish a swetaer/project. Please bring 4 swatches, approximately 4" x 4"; 2 bound off and 2 still on needles to learn seaming and 3 needle bind off. Also bring your ready to finish project to discuss techniques for finishing.
