More show and tell.

Here are two more finished projects whose lives began as yarn from the Hillsborough Yarn Shop.

Kathy brought in her completed Wingspan made with a single skein of Schoppel-Wolle Crazy Zauberball, a self-striping fingering-weight yarn. Like Anne’s Wingspan made in Kauni, the color changes in the Zauberball highlight the unusual construction of this shawlette.

Carrie Anne brought in a cowl she made that used just one skein of the luscious, soft-as-cashmere Malabrigo Finito. It’s always great to see what the yarn becomes when it grows up into a finished piece, and to see projects that make the most of a single skein. Thanks for the show and tell, ladies!

  1. Oh, which Zauberball is that? Crazy/Kleiner Fuchs is my hunch, but I could be wrong. I always look adoringly at them in shops but it is SO hard to guess how they will look when knitted, so seeing big pieces knitted from Zauberballs are always interesting.

    • Silme–I’m not sure exactly which colorway of Crazy Zauberball this is, unfortunately. You’re right that it makes a difference to see it knitted up, especially in a garment like Wingspan, that really takes advantage of those self-striping colors!

      • After comparing I am fairly sure it is Herbstsonne. Kleiner Fuchs has brighter/lighter shades. 🙂 I have only ever knitted test squares with them, but the striping and seeing the colours change had me entranced even though it was plain ol’ boring garter stitch (which normally drives me mad). I really ought to sit down and make something out of one of mine (or a new one..)!
