New year’s eve is a time to look back, and I often spend part of it scrolling through the past year in blog posts, remembering projects I’ve started, completed, and witnessed here at the shop. I also spend part of it knitting, as I do every evening.
Here’s my perch at home in my living room, where my “Puffin Sweater” is well under way. The pattern is from Kate Davies’ Colours of Shetland, and I’m knitting it in a favorite yarn: Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift.
New year’s eve is also a time for looking ahead, and there’s some knitterly looking-ahead in this pile of recently-acquired books. I’m looking forward to learning more about weaving in 2015, too.
What are you stitching this new year’s eve, and what projects are you itching to start in the new year?
Thank you so much for continuing to support the shop, and for reading this blog, as well. It’s so much fun taking pictures and writing about all that goes on here, and I can’t wait to see what the next year brings. Happy new year, everyone!

Happy New Year to you and Anne also. I’m so thankful to have a yarn shop of such high standards that I can shop. You guys have become family to Michelle and myself. We are both knitting our Kate Davies designs from “Yokes” tonight. We love the photo displaying your Puffin. It is beautiful. We shall visit again soon. In the mean time, Happy Knitting in 2015(and maybe a little weaving;)

Happy New Year to all at HYS.
Julia, your chair side table is so much neater than mine. The Puffin sweater is so lovely, and the colors are perfect.
My Mitered Cardigan is coming along, slowly. A seven year old saw my Midnight Sun tam the other day, admired it, and said, “There must be 20 colors in there, I like it.” I like it too.
Here’s looking forward to a years’ worth of yarns, patterns, classes, good advice, and the so-happy atmosphere at the Hillsborough Yarn Shop.

Hello Julia,
The sweater looks amazing! I look forward to finishing sometime during 2015 a few projects that I started last year with yarn that I bought in the shop.
Thank you for being such a great cheerleader in fiber crafts. Your blog is great and keeps me informed of recent trends.
Best,
Tamboura

I have missed coming into the shop! Fell off the yarn wagon a bit in 2014 as life just proved too hectic. Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things in 2015. First order of business is finishing some fingerless mitts and then… perhaps an infinity scarf. All those yoked sweaters, though… very inspiring! Happy yarning to all in 2015!
