Annual Inventory Sale!

As many of you know, July is our annual inventory sale month.

From July 1st to the 31st, everything in the shop is discounted by 15%, with the exception of classes and yarns that have already been discounted. If you’ve had your eye on a special skein, or have been planning a big project or two, now is the time to take the leap!

Pick up a few limited edition skeins from the Koigu Collector’s Club, treat yourself to a new book or the latest issues of Pom Pom, Amirisu, and Laine, stock up on your favorite yarns, grab a locally made soy candle while you’re at it.

Whatever it is you’ve been wanting, come by the shop during the month of July to get 15% off your purchase! We’ll be closed on 4th for the holiday, but otherwise open at our regular business hours. See you there!

A new issue of Amirisu is here!

Amirisu is a knitting magazine based in Japan, each issue filled with articles, interviews, tutorials, recipes, and patterns. I spotted both of Brooklyn Tweed’s fingering weight yarns in this issue – colorwork patterns in Peerie and Loft.

Amirisu provides a glimpse into the textile and knitting culture of Japan, though fiber artists and knitwear designers from around the world are featured.

This issue in particular has features on fiber artists and yarn shops in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia.

I spotted a review of Brooklyn Tweed Peerie in this issue, along with sweaters knit in Brooklyn Tweed Loft and Shelter – these are some of our favorite yarns, and worth a look if you haven’t had them on your needles yet.

Along with knitting patterns, Amirisu also boasts articles, recipes, and tutorials on a variety of crafts.

The latest issue of Amirisu is here!

The first thing I noticed as I unpacked this new issue was its larger format – Amirisu has grown, and they’ve made great use of their larger pages!

Amirisu is a bilingual knitting magazine from Japan, each issue filled with patterns, articles, and interviews. Amirisu provides a glimpse into the textile and knitting culture of Japan, though fiber artists and knitwear designers from around the world are featured.

This issue focuses on yarn and knitting in New England, in fact, with a feature on Squam and a bit of a yarn-lover’s travel guide to the region.

The knitting patterns in this issue are light and soft, loose fitting tops and draping shawls ideal for the warm weather and chilly air-conditioned spaces of summer.

Texture is the theme of this issue, and color has been set aside for the moment – all of the patterns are knit up in black, white, and shades of gray.

As a result, this issue of Amirisu is cool and refined, sometimes stark in high contrast and sometimes subtle in muted gray.

Brooklyn Tweed Arbor makes an appearance in Amy van de Laar’s “Anagram Hat & Wrap,” an excellent choice for intricate texture patterns like this due to its smooth texture and sharp stitch definition.

The latest issue of Amirisu has arrived!

Amirisu is a bilingual knitting magazine from Japan, each issue filled with patterns, articles, and interviews. Amirisu provides a glimpse into the textile and knitting culture of Japan, though fiber artists and knitwear designers from around the world are featured.

This issue turns its attention to London, providing a craft and fiber arts themed tour of the city.

This fall issue is also full of knitting patterns, of course, from cold-weather accessories to garments. I spotted two Brooklyn Tweed yarns put to work in these patterns: the twisted-stitch pullover on the cover is made with Shelter, and this leaf-adorned hat holds a lace-weight mohair yarn together with Arbor.

It’s been a busy month for new and interesting magazines, and another new title has arrived at our door. Let’s take a peek at Amirisu!

Amirisu is a bilingual knitting magazine from Japan, each issue filled with patterns, articles, and interviews. Amirisu provides a glimpse into the textile and knitting culture of Japan, though fiber artists and knitwear designers from around the world are featured.

This issue’s theme is natural dyes, and it grew from a question: what does it mean to be a natural dyer in the 21st century? Japanese indigo dyers at BUAISOU help to answer this question, as does California-based natural dyer Kristine Vejar.

Of course, there are beautiful knitting patterns, too; warm-weather knits are the focus this issue, from lightweight linen tops to openwork shawls.
