Back in stock: Binkwaffle bags.

We’re so happy to have a fresh supply of Binkwaffle bags on our shelves!

Binkwaffles are colorful, reversible, dumpling-shaped project bags. They’re made primarily from US-made fabrics, a detail we were pleased to learn from their new tags.

Knitters and crocheters love them because they’re both functional and whimsical. Our most recent shipment boasts a variety of prints, some familiar and some brand new, in large and small sizes.

A large Binkwaffle bag is roomy enough to accommodate a big wrap, baby blanket, or sweater in progress. The small size, on the other hand, is a perfect way to tote a hat, sock, cowl, or pair of mitts in progress.

Come by the shop to see them all! Please call ahead if there’s a particular style you’d like to claim; these colorful bags sell fast, especially during the holiday season. See you at the shop!

New prints from Binkwaffle.

We’re so happy to have five new prints from Binkwaffle on our shelves!

Binkwaffles are colorful, reversible, dumpling-shaped project bags. Knitters and crocheters love them because they’re both functional and whimsical. Usually we order a random assortment of whatever fabrics Holly has on hand, but when we heard that she was debuting new prints, we wanted them right away.

Holly’s latest creations are full of colorful creatures. We’ve got blue and white elephants, orange and aqua foxes, and black and white puppies, along with aqua pineapples and pink and orange flowers.

Binkwaffle season.

The past month or so has brought at least three shipments of Binkwaffle bags our way. These reversible, dumpling-shaped project bags are always in demand, but especially during the holidays, when they become part of so many gifts.

These Alpaca print Binkwaffles have been a favorite since they first showed up in July; we do love our fiber animals around here.

Hedgehogs and Bloom are the newest fabrics from Holly at Binkwaffle. The material on these is slightly heavier than Binkwaffle bags we’ve had before, an upgrade for those who like a sturdy, go-anywhere tote for their projects.

Browse our full selection of project bags here at the shop!

Please note that we’ll be closing on Sunday, December 24th and Sunday, December 31st, but are otherwise open at our usual business hours. Happy holidays!

Anne was particularly excited about the alpaca print, and snagged one for herself as we unpacked the box.

This shipment was full of small Binkwaffles, just the right size for carrying a hat, cowl, pair of socks, or shawlette in progress.

Come by the shop to see our full selection of Binkwaffle bags, small and large. Our Annual Inventory Sale is still on, so if you visit us before the end of July, we’ll take 15% off your purchase. Hurry in for best selection!

Just a reminder–all sales are final on discounted items; there can be no exchanges or returns. Thanks!

Gifts.

The holiday shopping season is upon us, and we’re always honored and appreciated to be considered a gift source. Some knitters make it plain, and send their loved ones directly to our website to order a HYS Gift Certificate. Others have mentioned our shop enough times that their family and friends know to look here for something special, but aren’t sure exactly what to get. Then there are those shopping for non-knitters, those who might appreciate something handcrafted. We are delighted to offer something for all of those gift-seekers, and others yet undescribed! Welcome to our new Gifts section.

Anne’s gifts-in-progress.

“What are you working on?” is knitters’ small talk, a question Anne and I encounter and ask many times a day here at the shop. Today, we’ll pose the question to Anne herself, taking a rare peek in her personal knitting bag.

DSCN6123

Just how much does a large Binkwaffle dumpling bag hold? If you pack as skillfully as Anne, no less than seven works in progress in various stages of completion!

DSCN6128

Anne is a tremendously generous knitter who loves clothing her family in handknits, and she’s also a project manager. That means she’s already planned her holiday gift-knitting for the year, completed the first piece (a twirly skirt for her eldest granddaughter), and started on the next few. The sweater above is for her husband, a “Honeycomb Pullover” in Rowan Pure Wool Worsted.

DSCN6127

These two skeins of Swans Island All American Sport are destined to become colorwork gloves for her husband. The socks below are for her grandsons, in Colinette Jitterbug and Noro Silk Garden Sock. She’ll work on both pairs at once, switching back and forth between the blue and striped socks until they’re completed. Also note how she stores them safely in DP Wip Tubes, so none of those tiny stitches slide off the needles!

DSCN6129

These two skeins of Baa Ram Ewe Dovestone DK will grow up to be a cuddly “Fancy Hen” for Anne’s youngest granddaughter, who gets lots of handknit hand-me-downs, but still deserves something all her own.

DSCN6125

Quick to knit and easy to wear, hats and cowls are go-to gifts for many knitters, and Anne has one of each in progress. The hat above was knit in the discontinued Shibui Merino Alpaca, and sits nearly finished with just one lingering question: does it need a pom-pom? The cowl below is a bit of a teaser, since all I can say is that the yarn it’s made of is coming to the Hillsborough Yarn Shop later this Fall. More soon!

(Outside of this particular knitting bag, she also has three sample sweaters going for the shop… more on those another time.)

Are you dreaming of handmade holiday gifts for your friends and family? Follow in Anne’s footsteps and start now, so you’re not limited to late nights, super-bulky yarns and tiny accessories towards the end of the year!

New from Binkwaffle.

HYS regulars know the drill: Binkwaffle bags come and go from our shelves frequently. We order a bundle of these reversible dumpling bags at a time, and they’re snapped up again and again by knitters and crocheters seeking whimsical, functional project bags.

DSCN6098

Our most recent order included a variety of small and large Binkwaffle bags and a few new prints – no surprise there, Holly’s always introducing new fabrics to keep our selection interesting.

However, there was one entirely new product in the box this time: meet the Binkwaffle Zipper Clutch!

DSCN6102

The Zipper Clutch is just the right size for a notions case, perfect for holding your scissors, cable needle, stitch markers, and other little tools. It’d make a nice purse, too, with just enough room for your essentials, and a removable 6″ loop to hang around your wrist, or hold your keys.

DSCN6103

Holly has been saving scraps from all the bags she’s produced and using them to make these zipper clutches, so they’ll match some of the small and large Binkwaffle bags we have in stock, as well as some of the Binkwaffle bags you may have at home.

DSCN6106 DSCN6105We have just five of these on the shelf right now, so if you see one you like, hurry in to claim it!

Our supply of Binkwaffle bags had dwindled to just two lonesome bags when we got a package from Holly at Binkwaffle and breathed a sigh of relief.
