Ann Shayne and Kaye Gardiner’s series of Field Guides are pocket-sized booklets focused on a particular theme or knitting technique. The theme here is ease, not only as it relates to the size and fit of knitted garments, but also ease as in easy, relaxing, comforting.
As in every Field Guide, Ann and Kaye’s ruminations on the topic at hand are featured, but they’ve also brought designer Julia Farwell-Clay in for a few patterns.
In this booklet, Farwell-Clay offers patterns for a textured cowl, leafy washcloth, striped shawl, and even a blanket featuring a new intarsia-like method – all with the perfect balance of interesting and easy, or as Ann and Kaye put it, “just clever enough to hold our attention while also giving us the chance to float away a bit.”
