Out With the Old – Fibre Co. Arranmore Sale!

While we’re always disappointed when well-loved yarns are discontinued, the bright side is that it means exciting new yarns are coming. We recently learned that Fibre Company is discontinuing production of their bulky weight Arranmore, and though we’re sad to see it go, we’re pleased to announce a sale to see it off!

Announcing our Out With the Old Sale – from this Friday, December 13, through Sunday, December 15, Fibre Co. Arranmore will be 40% off!

Arranmore is a bulky weight tweed, composed of 80% merino, 10% cashmere, and 10% silk. It knits up quickly at a gauge of 3.5 – 4.25 stitches per inch, using US 8-10 needles. Though it’s thick and warm, it’s not heavy; with 175 yards on each 100 gram skein, it’s quite lofty for a bulky yarn.

The sale begins Friday, and goes through Sunday – come early for best selection! If we happen to run low on Arranmore before the sale is through, we may have some other surprise discounts in store… hope to see you this weekend!

Anniversary party and sale!

As you may remember from years past, or may have seen in our most recent email newsletter, October marks the 13 year anniversary of the Hillsborough Yarn Shop!

The shop has grown and changed since Anne first opened in 2006, but always with the goal of bringing the best natural fiber yarns, tools, publications, and classes to stitchers in the Triangle. By that measure, in my opinion, Anne has succeeded tremendously, and I am so proud to be on her team, spending my days in this special shop.

We’re celebrating with two events this year. First, we’re staying open late for an Anniversary Party on Friday, November 1st. Join us from 6:00 – 8:00 pm for festive snacks and drinks, and enter a raffle for a chance to win a gift certificate to the shop. You can get a raffle ticket by wearing something you made with yarn from HYS, or by making a purchase during the party. And yes, we’ll give you two raffle tickets if you do both!

Second, but no less exciting, we always celebrate our anniversary with a sale, and this year is no exception; from Friday, November 1st – Sunday, November 3rd, everything in the shop will be 15% off, with the exception of classes and that which is already discounted. This is the time to treat yourself to some exciting new yarns, splurge on an inspiring book, and save on that special project you’ve been wanting to start this fall.

We also have some exciting new goodies to mark the occasion, some of which have already been on our needles behind the scenes… we can hardly wait to share this with you all!

We hope to see you at the sale Friday through Sunday, and at the party Friday evening! We are so grateful to all of you for your support over the years, for shopping and learning and sharing with us. Come by the shop and let us thank you in person!

We’re quickly coming up on the end of the month, and with it, the end of our Annual Inventory Sale. With that in mind, let today’s blog post be a quick reminder to come into the shop before the sale ends!

Everything in the shop is 15% off for just a few more days–every skein of yarn, every pair of needles, every hook, every book, every magazine, pattern, gift, kit; all of it is discounted. If you’ve been meaning to come by to take advantage of the sale but let the month get away from you, hurry in before the end of the day on Wednesday, July 31st. See you there!

Annual Inventory Sale!

As many of you know, July is our annual inventory sale month.

From July 1st to the 31st, everything in the shop is discounted by 15%, with the exception of classes and yarns that have already been discounted. If you’ve had your eye on a special skein, or have been planning a big project or two, now is the time to take the leap!

Pick up a few limited edition skeins from the Koigu Collector’s Club, treat yourself to a new book or the latest issues of Pom Pom, Amirisu, and Laine, stock up on your favorite yarns, grab a locally made soy candle while you’re at it.

Whatever it is you’ve been wanting, come by the shop during the month of July to get 15% off your purchase! We’ll be closed on 4th for the holiday, but otherwise open at our regular business hours. See you there!

Out With the Old – Discontinued Shibui Sale!

While we’re always disappointed when well-loved yarns are discontinued, the bright side is that it means exciting new yarns are coming. We recently learned that Shibui is discontinuing production of Birch and Maai, and though we’re sad to see them go, we’re pleased to announce a sale to see them off!

We’re starting summer with an Out With the Old Sale – from this Friday, June 21st, through Sunday, June 30th, Shibui Birch and Maai will be 40% off, the deepest discount we’ve ever offered on any Shibui yarns!

Discontinued Shibui colorways will also be marked down – 40% off select shades of nearly every Shibui yarn we carry. After June 30th, these Shibui yarns will no longer be on our shelves, so come early for best selection!

Come by the shop from Friday, June 21st, through Sunday, June 30th to get these lovely yarns at a great price. Hope to see you there!

Triangle Yarn Crawl.

The Triangle Yarn Crawl is a self-guided tour of local yarn shops, where yarn-lovers get together and hop from one shop to the next, shopping, entering raffles, and seeing the full breadth of available fibers. They happen just once a year, and the time has come again: the Spring 2019 crawl is coming up this week, from April 4th – 7th! 

The event includes 9 yarn shops, from Mebane to Rocky Mount to Southern Pines, and everywhere in between. It’s four days long, Thursday through Sunday, giving yarn crawlers time to experience what every shop has to offer, and getting your TYC passport stamped at every shop means you’re entered to win the grand prize raffle!

We’re having our own raffle, too, and the prize features yarns and kits from Shibui, Koigu, Berroco, Kauni, and Brown Sheep, along with a bundle of pattern booklets from Noro. Additionally, we’re giving away TYC totes to the first 5 customers each day of the yarn crawl with a purchase of $25 or more!

A new feature for the 2019 TYC is a free pattern, a blanket square designed by each participating shop. Collect the patterns for all the squares as you go from shop to shop, and all together, you’ll have a baby blanket! Our block features our favorite fiber animal, a sheep, designed by Anne and knit with Ewe Ewe Wooly Worsted; you’ll need just over one skein to make a 10″x10″ block, or pick up three skeins for enough to make two blocks.

Each local yarn shop has something special to offer, and we’re no exception! Visit us during the Triangle Yarn Crawl to enjoy our usual selection of natural fiber yarns along with the following special attractions from April 4-7, 2018:

Sundays in Hillsborough: Book Sale!

The Hillsborough Chamber is sponsoring events in Hillsborough on Sundays, and we’re participating with a book sale on Sunday, September 23rd.

All in-stock books will be discounted by 25%, making this a great time to indulge in an exciting new publication, or pick up an older title that escaped notice the first time around – we have an awful lot of books to choose from!
