Virtual Trunk Show: Brooklyn Tweed Wool People 13!

Our latest trunk show from Brooklyn Tweed arrived just before we decided it was safest to temporarily close the shop to walk-in traffic. Anne and I are still coming into the shop to fill mail orders, so we get to enjoy these gorgeous garments, but we are truly sorry that most of you have missed seeing them! You don’t have to miss out on the 10% discount we’re offering on featured BT yarns – if you see something here that you like, email us with questions or to place an order!

It’ll have to be a Virtual Trunk Show this time – let’s take a look at these select pieces from the Wool People 13 collection!

“Ensata Scarf,” by Amy van de Laar, knit with 5 skeins of Brooklyn Tweed Peerie (shown in Muslin)

“Runnel Scarf,” by illitilli, knit with 7 skeins of Brooklyn Tweed Loft (4 skeins of Main Color (Soot); 1 skein each of Color 1 (Fossil), Color 2 (Cinnabar), and Color 3 (Long Johns))

“Newel,” by Paula Pereira, knit with 4-6 skeins of Brooklyn Tweed Quarry (shown in Gypsum)

“Osier,” by Cheryl Toy, knit with 9-15 skeins of Brooklyn Tweed Shelter (shown in Truffle Hunt)

These might look familiar, as we had the entire Wool People 13 collection here in January, but this is a whole new set of garments, made up in different colorways and in some cases different yarns.

Nearly every available Brooklyn Tweed yarn is featured in these designs: the fingering weight Loft and Peerie, DK weight Arbor, worsted weight Shelter, and bulky weight Quarry – all of which are 10% off during the Virtual Trunk Show. Email us with your order, and take care!

Shibiu Trunk Show: Fall 2019.

Our walls are newly decorated with an exciting Shibui Trunk Show! We’ll have 5 garments and accessories from their Fall 2019 pattern collection on display here at the shop until Sunday, February 23, 2020.

Shibui’s Fall 19 collection shines a spotlight on one of their newest yarns, Nest. Nest is a DK weight merino and alpaca blend, and has a beautiful marled look, as shown in Sivia Harding’s “Clark” cardigan.

Sometimes it’s combined with a strand or two of other Shibui yarns – Echo brings softness and a heavier gauge, Silk Cloud brings a soft halo. Try out these combinations at our upcoming Shibui Mix Party, a yarn tasting event scheduled for this Sunday, February 16 – we still have a couple of spaces open, so sign up now if you’d like to claim one!

We have sample copies of all these patterns here at the shop so you can look them over before buying them on Ravelry.

The following Shibui yarns are featured in this collection: Silk Cloud, Echo, and Nest. All three are 10% off during the show, so come by and see it soon to take advantage of the discount!

A reminder: all sales are final on discounted yarn. There can be no returns or exchanges. Thanks!

Brooklyn Tweed Wool People 13 Trunk Show!

We are delighted to announce that a new trunk show from Brooklyn Tweed is here to spend a couple of weeks at our shop. Come by before January 26 to see the Wool People 13 collection!

Wool People is an annual collaboration between Brooklyn Tweed and a variety of independent knitwear designers from around the world. Some of their names are familiar, but most are new to me. Those designers bring their own vision and aesthetic to Brooklyn Tweed’s breed-specific wool yarns, a combination that offers an exciting array of new designs.

Nearly every available Brooklyn Tweed yarn is featured in these designs: from the lace weight Vale, through fingering weight Loft and Peerie, DK weight Arbor, worsted weight Shelter, and bulky weight Quarry – all of which are 10% off during the Trunk Show.

Every pattern collection, it seems, is more appealing to me in person than in photos online – including collections that are very appealing in photos online! There’s something special and impossible to substitute about seeing and touching the garments for oneself, perceiving the weight, drape, texture, stitch definition, and color of them with your own eyes and hands.

Come by the shop before January 26 to see Wool People 13 and get featured Brooklyn Tweed yarns at 10% off!

Just a reminder–all sales are final on discounted items; there can be no exchanges or returns. Thanks!

Shibui Summer 19 Trunk Show!

Another Trunk Show has arrived to decorate our walls and inspire your summer stitching – come by before September 8th to see Shibui’s Summer 19 collection in person!

Shibui is known for the elegant simplicity of their designs, the modern shapes and subtle textures created by combining yarns two or three strands at a time.

This summer collection is mostly comprised of plant fiber yarns – Vine, Reed, and Twig – with an occasional strand of Cima or Lunar mixed in for a bit of structure or shine. We’re offering 10% off these five featured Shibui yarns during the show, another great reason to come by!

It’s always a treat to see knit garments in person; photos just don’t do them justice. The colors are particularly hard to capture, especially Twilight, a moody mix of gray and lavender. It’s one of Shibui’s newest additions to their color palette, and thus, especially intriguing to see knit up in a garment.

Come by before September 8th to see the show!

A reminder–all sales are final on discounted items; there can be no exchanges, no returns, nor will we special order. Thanks!

Shibui Spring 19 Trunk Show!

Another Trunk Show has arrived to decorate our walls and inspire your summer stitching – come by before July 31 to see Shibui’s Spring 19 collection in person!

Shibui is known for the elegant simplicity of their designs, the modern shapes and subtle textures created by combining yarns two or three strands at a time.

This Spring 19 collection has some of that yarn-mixing, but you’ll also find two yarns used separately within the same garment – a shawl knit with Rain but trimmed in Reed, for example.

It’s always a treat to see knit garments in person; photos just don’t do them justice. It’s an extra treat to get the materials at a discount, and because this show came during our Annual Inventory Sale, everything in stock is 15% off!

Come by before July 31 to see the show and take advantage of this sale as you plan your next projects. See you soon!

A reminder–all sales are final on discounted items; there can be no exchanges, no returns, nor will we special order. Thanks!

Brooklyn Tweed Trunk Show: Winter 19.

Our latest Brooklyn Tweed Trunk Show just arrived, featuring garments and accessories from their Winter 19 collection!

This group of sweaters and accessories is rich with saturated colors and a variety of techniques, from lace and texture to cables and colorwork.

Seeing these garments close up and in person is one of the great joys of a Trunk Show. Another joy is trying them on for size, making sure you like the fit and feel before you invest in a big project. We like to add one more joy: a 10% discount on purchases of the featured BT yarns during the trunk show!

We’ll have the show until May 19, and then we’ll pack it up and send it on to the next shop. Come in soon to take a look!

Just a reminder–all sales are final on discounted items; there can be no exchanges or returns. Thanks!

Kelbourne Woolens Perennial Trunk Show!

Another Trunk Show is here to decorate our walls for a while, featuring garments knit with Kelbourne Woolens Perennial!

Perennial is a light fingering weight blend of superwash merino, Suri alpaca, and nylon, a combination that’s both soft and sturdy, suitable for all kinds of projects.

The Trunk Show features sweaters for babies and adults and a pair of lace shawls.

Some of the patterns might look familiar, as they were initially designed by the Kelbourne Woolens team for other yarns a few years ago. It’s nice to see them again in a new light, knit with new yarn, and in such vibrant colors!

Come by the shop this week to see the Kelbourne Woolens Perennial Trunk Show before we have to send it on to the next shop – we’ll have it on display until Sunday, March 10th, and are offering 10% off Perennial during that time.

See you at the shop!

Just a reminder–all sales are final on discounted items; there can be no exchanges or returns. Thanks!

Brooklyn Tweed Wool People 12 Trunk Show!

We are delighted to announce that a new trunk show from Brooklyn Tweed is here to spend a couple of weeks at our shop. Come by before March 3rd to see the Wool People 12 collection!

Wool People is an annual collaboration between Brooklyn Tweed and a variety of independent knitwear designers from around the world. Some of their names are familiar, like Shannon Cook, Isabell Kraemer, Melissa Wehrle, and Emily Greene, but many are new to me. Those designers bring their own vision and aesthetic to Brooklyn Tweed’s breed-specific wool yarns, a combination that offers an exciting array of new designs.

Brooklyn Tweed’s lightest weight yarns are featured in these designs: the lace weight Vale, fingering weight Loft and Peerie, and DK weight Arbor, all of which are 10% off during the Trunk Show.

Though there are plenty of cables and other texture patterns on display, there’s a special preponderance of lace in this collection – delicate pullovers with lace yokes, garter stitch shawls with lace edgings, a turtleneck covered in eyelet linework, an allover mesh-lace pullover, and others. If you are a lace lover or curious about the technique, this show is a must-see!

Come by the shop before March 3rd to see Wool People 12 and get featured Brooklyn Tweed yarns at 10% off!

Just a reminder–all sales are final on discounted items; there can be no exchanges or returns. Thanks!
