Andorra Collection Trunk Show!

We’re delighted to announce that the Kelbourne Woolens Andorra Collection Trunk Show has arrived!

Andorra is the first yarn under the Kelbourne Woolens imprint, a bouncy sport weight blend of merino and highland wool with a dash of mohair. It’s a wooly, lustrous 2-ply with a medium twist, not too tight or loose, and especially after knitting, it looks pleasantly fuzzy.

The Andorra Collection covers so much in just six patterns: rich texture, tidy cables, classic lace, and Bohus-inspired colorwork.

Come by the shop before February 18th to see these garments for yourself, and get 10% off Kelbourne Woolens Andorra!

Shibui Fall/Winter 2017 Trunk Show!

A new Trunk Show has arrived to decorate our walls, Shibui’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection!

These garments are designed by Shellie Anderson, Shibui’s in-house designer, the mind behind the simple, elegant garments the company is so well known for. Many of these feature two different yarns held together throughout, creating unique color and fiber combinations.

There are many fun and useful things about trunk shows, like being able to play a bit of dress-up and try garments on for size, but one of the best aspects of a Shibui trunk show is seeing these yarn combinations in person.

We’re offering a 10% discount on the featured Shibui yarns during the Trunk Show – come by before December 23rd to see it for yourself!

A reminder: all sales are final on discounted items; there will be no exchanges or returns. Thanks!

Kelbourne Woolens Pop Collection Trunk Show!

We’re pleased to present our latest Trunk Show: Kelbourne Woolens’ Pop Collection, featuring Fibre Company Arranmore Light!

Kelbourne Woolens is our US distributor of Fibre Company yarns, and as such, they often develop pattern collections for those yarns. The Pop Collection is what they dreamed up this season for Arranmore Light, inspired by fashion, music, and youth culture of the 1960’s.

Arranmore Light is a DK weight tweed, composed of 80% merino, 10% cashmere, and 10% silk.

We’re offering a 10% discount on Arranmore Light for as long as this Trunk Show is on display, so be sure to visit us before December 10th to take advantage of that!

A reminder: discounted yarns are considered final sale, meaning no returns or exchanges can be made after purchase. Thanks!

Brooklyn Tweed Trunk Show: Lounge collection.

Another Brooklyn Tweed Trunk Show has made a temporary home here at the shop!

These garments were gathered from a few different BT pattern collections with “Lounge” as the unifying theme.

They’re made with Brooklyn Tweed’s three woolen-spun Targhee-Columbia wool yarns: fingering weight Loft, worsted weight Shelter, and bulky weight Quarry, our most recent acquisition. All three of these yarns are 10% off while the Trunk Show is on display – from now until Wednesday, November 15th.

We’re expecting print copies of these patterns to arrive any day now, and those of you who have purchased print copies of Brooklyn Tweed patterns know how lovely they are in that format – each one its own sturdy booklet. In the meantime, check them all out on Ravelry to see more pictures, study project notes from knitters, etc.

See you at the shop!

Just a reminder–all sales are final on discounted items; there can be no exchanges or returns. Thanks!

Fibre Company Trunk Show!

Our latest trunk show arrived a few days earlier than expected, a pleasant surprise that has filled our walls with beautiful handknits. Come by the shop to see an excerpt from Fibre Company’s Fell Garth II collection, all knit with Arranmore Light!

Arranmore Light is a DK weight tweed, composed of 80% merino, 10% cashmere, and 10% silk. Each 100 gram skein has a generous 328 yards, so that most sizes of these sweaters can be made with just 4 – 6 skeins.

We don’t have print copies of these patterns, but they’re all available individually on Ravelry:

Come by the shop soon to see this collection for yourself! It’s such a treat to try them on for size and admire the stitching up close. We’re offering a 10% discount on Arranmore Light during the show, too – hope to see you there!

A reminder: discounted yarns are considered final sale, meaning no returns or exchanges can be made after purchase. Thanks!

Brooklyn Tweed Wool People 11 Trunk Show!

We are delighted to announce that a new trunk show from Brooklyn Tweed is here to spend a couple of weeks at our shop. Come by before October 22nd to see the Wool People 11 collection!

Wool People is an annual collaboration between Brooklyn Tweed and a variety of independent knitwear designers from around the world. Those designers bring their own vision and aesthetic to Brooklyn Tweed’s breed-specific wool yarns, a combination that offers an exciting array of new designs.

Four of Brooklyn Tweed’s yarns are featured in these designs: the lace weight Vale, fingering weight Loft, DK weight Arbor, and worsted weight Shelter. This makes for a varied collection with a bit of something for every knitter: innovative cardigans, classic pullovers, playful intarsia shawls, delicate lace stoles, and textures from smooth stockinette to intricate cables.

These exquisite pieces are on display here at the Hillsborough Yarn Shop until October 22nd. We often offer a discount on featured yarns during Trunk Shows, and this is no exception. However, because this show overlaps with our Anniversary Sale, we’re doing it a little differently. From now through October 20th, Brooklyn Tweed Vale, Loft, Arbor, and Shelter are 10% off. On October 21st and 22, during our Anniversary Sale, those yarns will be 15% off, like everything else in the shop. We hope to see you here soon!

Just a reminder–all sales are final on discounted items; there can be no exchanges or returns. Thanks!

Hikari Collection Trunk Show!

We’re delighted to announce that the fourth Trunk Show of this busy month has arrived. Come by the shop by September 3rd to see the Hikari Collection, featuring five gossamer garments in Fibre Co. Meadow!

The Hikari Collection comes from Japanese knitwear desgner michiyo, who has created lightweight, roomy garments well-suited to warm-weather wear or layering as autumn sets in.

Fibre Co. Meadow looks great in the lace, texture, and stockinette patterns michiyo has employed in these breezy pieces. Nearly all are knit at 5.5 stitches per inch, a loose but cohesive fabric in this robust lace weight yarn.

The patterns are available as Ravelry In-Store Pattern Sales, where we print a copy for you and a digital copy is stored in your Ravelry Pattern Library and emailed to you for safe keeping. We’re offering Meadow at 10% off during the show, so visit us by September 3rd to try these pretty sweaters on for size and plan a late summer project from the Hikari Collection!

A reminder: discounted yarns are considered final sale, meaning no returns or exchanges can be made after purchase. Thanks!

CoopKnits Socks Yeah! Trunk Show.

Yet a third trunk show has arrived this month: eleven socks from Rachel Coopey’s CoopKnits Socks Yeah! Volume One.

This collection features patterns for Coopey’s own yarn, CoopKnits Socks Yeah!, a hard-wearing, machine-washable blend of superwash merino wool and nylon. The book is sure to keep any sock-knitter interested, with techniques from lace and cables to colorwork and stripes.

Socks Yeah! is particularly well-suited to showing off these techniques, with its smooth texture, high twist, and solid colors. The Trunk Show is a great opportunity to see these socks in person and get a tangible sense of how the yarn behaves in a variety of patterns and colors.

We’re offering a 10% discount on CoopKnits Socks Yeah! during the show, which will be decorating our walls until September 15th. Come by to see it for yourself and plan your next project!

Just a reminder–all sales are final on discounted items; there can be no exchanges or returns. Thanks!

Brooklyn Tweed Vale Trunk Show!

We are delighted to announce that a new trunk show from Brooklyn Tweed is here to spend a couple of weeks at our shop. Come by before August 20th to see the Vale Collection!

The Vale Collection features five garments: four popular lace patterns from the Brooklyn Tweed archives that have been revised for Vale, and one brand new design from Jared Flood.

The old favorites are “Girasole,” “Rock Island,” “Bridgewater,” and “Lucca,” classic lace shawls in a variety of shapes. “Gully” is the newest pattern, a brioche cowl that takes just one skein of Vale.

Seeing this collection in person is a treat, and really highlights the quality of the yarn. Vale is a lace weight Rambouillet wool, with 450 yards on each 50 gram skein. It’s worsted-spun for a smooth yarn with sharp stitch definition, one that’s spectacularly bouncy in the skein and in the knitted fabric.

These exquisite pieces are on display here at the Hillsborough Yarn Shop until August 20th, and while they’re here, we’re offering 10% off purchases of Brooklyn Tweed Vale. Hurry in to see the show and soak up some lace knitting inspiration!

Just a reminder–all sales are final on discounted items; there can be no exchanges or returns. Thanks!

Dovestone Smallholding Trunk Show!

We were delighted to receive our latest trunk show early – come by the shop between now and the end of August to see the Dovestone Smallholding Trunk Show!

Ella Austin’s Dovestone Smallholding is a book of stuffed toys knit with Baa Ram Ewe Dovestone DK, a soft and beautiful blend of British wools.

We have four of the creatures from the book on display: “Wensleydale Lamb,” “Shetland Pony,” “Plum Pudding Pig,” and “Moggy” the cabled cat.

Anne and I have each made a “Fancy Hen” from this collection and admired many others. If you love or aspire to knit stuffed toys, come by the shop to see these sweet creatures in person! Do so before the end of July and you can get the materials to make them at 15% off. Look for them in the DK weight section!
