I also spotted some helpful technique articles: one on crocheted edgings, and one showing how to increase and decrease in pattern to shape crocheted pieces.

I noticed a favorite yarn in this issue, too–one skein of the delightful Fibre Company Meadow, knit up into a floral lace scarf.

We always like to see what Meg Swansen is writing about in her Vogue column–this time, it’s tips and tricks for lace-knitting, a topic well-suited to the projects in this issue.

The Fall 2013 issue of Vogue Knitting is here!

DSCN1943

Inside, you’ll find patterns for sweaters and accessories, using a wide variety of knitting techniques. Cables, brioche, stranded colorwork, and intarsia all keep the knitting interesting, and offer opportunities to try something new.

These blue sweaters all feature fisherman’s rib, a springy, lofty stitch pattern that looks something like brioche. I love seeing a series of designs each interpreting the stitch pattern in a different way; it speaks to the endless variation that keeps knitting interesting year in and year out.

There’s some interesting reading in this issue, too, taking the form of a profile of designer Kate Davies, as well as an article on colorwork tams by Meg Swansen.

I spotted a familiar yarn in this issue, Tedman & Kvist Colina, an textured aran weight yarn composed of linen and cotton. Here, it’s been made into a sweet short-sleeved cardigan.

Vogue Knitting.

This Fall marks the 30th anniversary for the popular Vogue Knitting magazine, and the anniversary issue is now available at the shop.

Inside, you’ll find many fashion-forward knitting projects, as is typical for Vogue. In particular, I was impressed by the article on traditional Aran knitting, and a slew of cabled patterns that accompany it.
